Presentation: Engine Technology Cycles: Assumptions, Challenges, and Sustainability

Within the transition to the next generation of engine technologies, what key assumptions have been made around fleet efficiency and cost-effectiveness? How do these assumptions hold up when challenged by real-world performance, how is this impacting the drive to sustainability, and what does this all mean for the future of commercial aviation? This presentation explores recent market data and examines the impact of these factors on fleet management decisions and maintenance economics.

Panel Discussion: Harnessing AI to Drive Efficiency in Engine Maintenance

Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications have a transformative role in enhancing efficiency in engine maintenance. What are the latest use cases and examples where AI is making a tangible impact on day-to-day operations? What are the biggest challenges in translating technology potential into cost savings?

Aviation Week Data Blast: Retirements

With a slow supply chain and OEM production issues, aircraft retirements have slowed dramatically over the past few years. Take a quick look at Aviation Week Network’s retirement forecast with a backdrop of a historical perspective.  See the degree of impact these changes have created in the market.

Panel Discussion: Asset Availability & Downstream Implications

What is the panel’s response to the data presented? What are the impacts of retirement levels on asset and USM availability, repair demand, component prices and overhaul demand? Considering specific powerplants, how are material levels impacting overhaul economics and maintenance strategies?
  • Moderator: Anthony Spaulding, President & CEO, Magellan Aviation Group
  • Carl Glover, SVP Sales & Marketing, AAR Corp
  • Patrick Holzkamp, Director Purchasing USM, MTU Maintenance
  • Gil Kraizer, Director, Lease & Trading, IAI

Ramco Systems Hosted Session: Digital Solutions for Faster Turnaround and Cost Efficiency

Aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industry is facing unprecedented demand for shop visits due to multiple reasons ranging from deferred newer aircraft deliveries, pent-up engine MRO demand necessitated by deferred legacy engine shop visits, increased repairs to newer generation engines. This is further fuelled by capacity constraints and shortage of parts at hangars to service engines. This has led to increased turnaround times (TATs) impacting airline fleet availability and escalating operational costs.

The session delves into how Engine MROs can navigate these challenges by embracing digital technologies such as AI and Automation in the entire value chain to deliver cost reduction, improved turnaround times and increased revenue recognition.

  • Shared Presentation
  • Sam Jacob, SVP, Ramco Systems
  • Manoj Singh, Executive VP, Ramco Systems
  • Konstantinos Varsos, Partner, Oliver Wyman

Panel Discussion: Turn-around-Times on Material Repairs

The USM market remains constrained, driven by low retirements and high demand for material. It is therefore critical that once material has been removed, the condition can be assessed, necessary repairs carried out, and parts be refitted efficiently. What are the key bottlenecks in the teardown and repair businesses, and how can more certainty be given to customers?
  • Moderator: Jonathan Berger, Managing Director, Alton Aviation Consultancy
  • Darrell Drake, SVP Engine Programs, Unical
  • Clinton Kent, VP Sales & Marketing, BP Aero
  • Brandon Witte, General Manager, AAR Component Services
  • Andrew Walmsley, President, Volo Aero MRO
